Homemade marmalade simply tastes better. And you get the cance to spend an uplifting day in a citrus-scented kitchen in darkest January, guarantedd to banish those winter blues.
This is the one time of year you can turn bittersweet Seville oranges into the perfect preserve. So join us on this Marmalade making Course and give yourself a well needed Vitamin C boost.
Throughout the day you will learn everything from selecting the best Seville oranges, to shredding, simmering, identifying the setting point, sealing and storing your marmalade. You will also have the chance to customise your batch by adding a sneaky glug of malt whisky or a dash of vanilla.
The day starts with coffee and some marmalade sweet treats as well as testing some of our very own marmalade varieties. Then you’ll get stuck into making your own jars that should see you through to the next year as well as some marmalade bakes including a Seville Orange & Almond Cake and a zingy clementine curd to take home.
There will also be a delicious lunch by ‘Papaya” and a booklet to take away with recipes and tips. You’ll depart with your homemade jars of marmalade, a large orange & almond cake and a little jar of citrus curd.
Whether you’re keen to enter The World’s Marmalade Competition yourself, or just love the idea of making your own marmalade at home this course is for you.
