Join us on this relaxing workshop where you will learn to create handmade poppies using crepe paper with Paper artist, Fiona McKeown, founder of Folly + Bird.
Based in Newcastle, Fiona McKeown is the creative force behind Folly & Bird. Originally trained as a Garden Designer, Fiona has since become a talented paper artist, sculpting intricate flowers and foliage from natural materials and paper. Her work beautifully captures the essence of the natural world.
Throughout the morning you will be guided through the artform, using the highest quality Italian crepe paper and her unique templates. You can choose from a range of heady colours, from stunning yellows to vibrant oranges, crimsons or pale pastels. You will learn key techniques of paper sculpture, including cupping, winding and grooming paper, inking and tinting, cutting and using templates. The whole process very enjoyable and therapeutic.
This workshop is suitable for beginners – you do need a good level of dexterity for the amount of cutting involved. All materials will be provided.
At the end of the workshop you will take home your beautiful delicate poppy. We will have a well earned break from making and enjoy homemade cake and refreshments hopefully sat outside in the sunshine.
