Join us on relaxed day of learning where we’ll expand on your knowledge of veg growing as we introduce you to new and unusual varieties you might not have considered before such as: agretti, asparagus peas, globe artichokes, tromboncinos, tomatillos, and Puntarelle which will all grow in our climate.
We’ll also discover how to maximise the growing season so you always have something to harvest, learn more about how to make the most of your growing space with vertical planting opportunities and companion planting ideas such as the ‘Three Sisters’ method. We will also touch upon pests and diseases to help ensure your crops look and taste their best.
Throughout the day you will test your own soil, learn new ways to activate your compost heap and take away some alternative brassicas. Alongside this we will share our top tips on how to get the most from your glut with some invaluable recipes such as some punchy preserved pickled radish.
You will have worked up an appetite during the morning and we can relax over a lunch prepared by Andy of ‘Papaya’ Catering
